Nathan A. Skop is an experienced attorney with a multi-disciplined education (JD, MBA, BS Aerospace Engineering) and has been a member of the Florida Bar in good standing for eighteen (18) years. While serving as an Assistant State Attorney in the 18th Judicial Circuit, NATHAN worked with our dedicated law enforcement officers and victims of crimes to prosecute criminals and keep our community safe.
NATHAN served the state of Florida in a quasi-judicial role as a Commissioner on the Florida Public Service Commission (appointed by Governor), is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Mediator, and served as a Guardian ad Litem. NATHAN is a “Double Gator” with degrees in Law (JD 06) and Aerospace Engineering (BSASE 91) from the University of Florida; along with a Master of Business Administration (MBA 96) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. NATHAN also completed the Mergers & Acquisitions Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of Business.
Upon graduating law school, NATHAN was appointed to serve the state of Florida as a Commissioner on the Florida Public Service Commission. As a Commissioner, NATHAN served as the presiding officer and prehearing officer during quasi-judicial hearings, conducted evidentiary hearings, ruled on motions, ruled on objections, issued orders, wrote concurring and dissenting opinions, and adjudicated administrative law cases subject to direct appeal to the Florida Supreme Court. Every major newspaper in the state of Florida commended Commissioner Skop for his integrity, ethics, and qualifications while serving the state of Florida on the Florida Public Service Commission.
While attending law school, NATHAN completed a Judicial Externship in the Criminal Division of the 8th Judicial Circuit Court under the Hon. Robert P. Cates (Ret.) who subsequently swore NATHAN into the Florida Bar. NATHAN’s additional UF Law accomplishments include:

- Honors in Legal Research & Writing; Appellate Advocacy, and Trial Practice

NATHAN’s published UF Law journal case comment has been downloaded 1,344 times since May 2022 demonstrating his legal scholarship and writing ability.
Prior to attending law school at age 37, NATHAN had a successful engineering and business career that included:
- Former engineer with Boeing (777 propulsion systems)
- Former engineer with General Dynamics (nuclear submarine propulsion)
- Engineering Internship with Gates Aerospace Batteries in Alachua (building batteries for the Space Station)
- Managing renewable energy projects for the nation’s largest renewable energy provider
NATHAN’s other legal accomplishments include serving as the General Counsel for a privately held Aerospace & Defense company with annual global revenue exceeding $200M, serving as an expert witness, and providing pro bono legal representation to property owners who were adversely impacted by proposed land use actions.
NATHAN was raised in Seminole County and is a proud graduate of Lake Mary High School.
Actively involved in the community, NATHAN is a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Mary, volunteers to help local nonprofit organizations, and recently served as a judge for the Florida High School Mock Trial competition.
In his spare time, NATHAN enjoys scuba diving, traveling, watching GATOR football, and being an avid sportsman.
